Our Panelists

• Dr. Mehreen Afzal

Dr. Mehreen Afzal is currently serving as a Director of Security & GRC for the project “National CERT of Pakistan”. She is an information security professional with nearly 23 years of experience in the field. She specializes in Cryptology and has contributed to several national-level information security projects. Due to her contributions to several projects related to information security and Cryptology, she was conferred with a Presidential Pride of Performance award in 2014. She headed many operational projects including the establishment and operationalization of the cyber security testing and evaluation lab in NECOP, an organization of NESCOM.  She has also made scholarly contributions as a researcher and a teacher.

• Dr Rafi us Shan

Dr Rafi us Shan has over 20 years of experience working with the public and private sectors both industry and academia. He served as CISO for KP for 3 years, established first public sector CERT in KP in 2018, Served as Senior Director Policy for PASHA and Project Director Digital Transformation cell MoIT Pakistan. He was a member of the National Cyber Security Committee and contributed in national Cloud First Policy. He completed his Masters and PhD from UK in Public Safety Communication Systems. Currently, he is serving as a faculty member of the Higher Colleges of Technology in UAE.

• Dr Hasan Islam

Dr Hasan Islam is currently working as a Director WATHEQ Lab, A Cyber Security Testing and Validation Lab, in UAE. ex-Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) with National Database & Registration Authority (NADRA), in Islamabad. ex-Vice President Governance, Risk & Compliance (GRC) & Special Projects with Ebryx Pvt Limited, Lahore. Served as Head of Cyber Security in government organizations in Pakistan, Consultant IT strategy and Digital Transformation.
